An Electrochemist, Electroanalytical Innovation Consultant
Hello there!
I'm Amin — An electrochemical consultant and chartered chemist passionate about transforming innovative science into real-world solutions. Whether you're developing next-generation biosensors, optimising diagnostic platforms, or scaling electrochemical technologies, I provide the expertise to bridge laboratory innovation and commercial success.
From regulatory strategy to technical troubleshooting, from funding applications to manufacturing scale-up — I help organisations navigate the complex path from concept to market.
Welcome to my consultancy practice, where electrochemical expertise meets commercial pragmatism.

About Me

I'm Dr Amin Haghighatbin, a chartered chemist who's spent over a decade convincing electrons to do useful things—sometimes successfully! My career spans the spectrum from academic research (where failure is just 'valuable data') to commercial R&D (where failure is considerably more expensive).
I've had the privilege of leading teams, securing funding, navigating regulatory mazes, and occasionally explaining to investors why our prototype decided to stop working five minutes before the demonstration. From VP of Engineering roles to UKRI Innovate UK funding success, I've learned that good science and good coffee are equally essential for breakthrough innovations.
My journey took me from Australia (PhD at La Trobe University) to China (Chinese Academy of Sciences fellowship), where I discovered that developing cardiac biomarker sensors is marginally easier than ordering dinner in Mandarin. These international adventures, combined with my commercial experience, have taught me that every brilliant idea needs equal parts scientific rigour and commercial pragmatism.
Today, I help organisations turn their electrochemical innovations into market successes—with hopefully fewer plot twists than my own research journey involved.

Consultancy Services

Consultancy Services
Having survived countless late nights debugging temperamental electrodes and explaining to colleagues why my latest "breakthrough" just produced expensive smoke, I now offer my hard-won expertise to organisations brave enough to tackle electrochemical challenges.
I provide advisory services to biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers, and research teams who need practical solutions for:
-
Biosensor Development: Aptamer-based, immunological, and enzymatic sensors (with significantly better reproducibility than my early PhD attempts!)
-
Regulatory Navigation: ISO 13485, MDR compliance, and quality systems (because bureaucracy is trickier than fitting a Nyquist Diagram)
-
Technology Commercialisation: Scaling from laboratory prototypes to manufacturing reality (the bit they don't teach you in university)
-
Technical Due Diligence: Investment advisory and technology assessment (helping investors understand why that "simple" sensor costs £2 million to develop)
-
Failure Analysis: Root cause investigation when things go spectacularly wrong (my specialty, unfortunately)
-
Grant Writing & Funding Strategy: Turning brilliant ideas into funded projects (with considerably better success rates than my early career attempts)
Think of me as your electrochemical translator—fluent in both scientific jargon and commercial reality, with a track record of turning "it works in the lab" into "it actually works everywhere else too."
Ready to turn your electrochemical headaches into breakthrough innovations? Let's chat over coffee—preferably stronger than my electrode solutions.
